James’ biggest obstacle to his health was the excess body weight he was carrying.
He began the program at a young age so he had the advantage to really change the course of his life and health before it may have been too late. James’ parents feared the negative impact their son’s childhood obesity would have and knew it was starting to seep into all areas of life. James suffered from a lack of self-esteem, thus impacting his personality and ultimately interaction with peers. It was obvious that James started to embrace the role of the “fat kid” and his parents knew that a life of obesity could lead to a myriad of health conditions such as diabetes and heart disease. Decreased self-esteem alone led to decreased motivation, and a pattern was forming that they needed to break for their child.
James started the program with a cleanse and elimination diet. Following this, he eased into a diet that was focused on protein, vegetables and some fruit.
It took a lot of effort to change James’ thought process around food, as his peers were still eating pizza, fries and sweets everyday. James started introducing more exercise into his daily life and found a lot of motivation through private boxing classes. He underwent extensive lab work and diagnostics to get baseline health parameters that were remeasured in the middle and end of the program. James did weekly health coaching sessions where he was able to discuss his challenges and work out solutions for them. Throughout the program, periodic cleanses were incorporated to help reset his system and recognize bad habits that were starting to form again.
The physical and mental changes James has experienced are phenomenal. He lost over 50 pounds during the program and has greatly decreased the amount of fat around his organs.
James’ self-esteem has also improved drastically throughout the program. In the past, if James felt he would not excel at a task, he just would not have tried. Now, James is involved with sports and thriving in athletics. His teachers have positively commented that he is a “different kid” than he was only a year ago, as they notice his socialization, schoolwork and attitude have all improved. We personally think James’ sense of humor and zest for life has also been enhanced.
At the beginning of the program, Sinead’s main obstacle to her health was being in active treatment for cancer.
She was experiencing extreme fatigue, along with throat pain and skin burns. Sinead was physically limited, so exercise was not often an option due to her surgeries and treatment. As treatment progressed, Sinead’s thyroid started to shut down, again working against her goals in the program. People often think when you finish oncology treatment that you can move on with life as normal, but often the battle to restoring your health has just begun. Sinead’s body was pushed into menopause and of course the stress that comes with an oncology diagnosis lasts far beyond the initial stages. Sinead truly felt like her body was working against her.
Sinead began the program with a cleanse and elimination diet. Our goal was to support Sinead through treatment and address any symptoms or challenges that arose throughout the program.
Our main goal was to help her battle cancer as best as she could. We focused on incorporating movement by working with her animals, going for walks, and if possible, sitting on her Peloton where we progressed through the motions without doing a full-on class. Sinead underwent advanced diagnostics including food sensitivity testing and diagnostic imaging. Additionally, she had weekly health coaching and health assessments, nutritional guidance, and any other assistance needed.
Sinead felt that the best result she received was the knowledge she gained of her body and her health status.
The program helped Sinead understand that her body was not functioning normally during treatment, which reduced some of the frustration she was having with her physical results. We like to think her biggest result was being a cancer survivor. Now, Sinead knows what her deficiencies are and is ready to tackle them post-cancer. The program helped Sinead focus and it supported her during six rounds of chemotherapy, 18 rounds of immunotherapy, 28 rounds of radiation, and six surgeries. Sinead survived and now she is ready to thrive!
Jack had very serious health obstacles when he started the program; he was diabetic and morbidly obese.
At the start of the program, Jack was examined for the fat around his organs and it was the highest the practice had ever seen. Suffering from metabolic syndrome, Jack’s fate depended on him making serious changes to his lifestyle.
Jack began the program with a cleanse and elimination diet. He went through extensive testing to assess his baseline health.
Through lab work and specific imaging, it was determined that Jack had major changes ahead of him and his diet and exercise would be the basis of his return to health. Jack’s conditions were caused by lifestyle factors and that is how they would be treated. Jack was sent daily recipes and workouts to follow, and in addition to this, he walked several miles every morning. Each week, Jack would be assessed for his body fat percentage, weighed, and have his vitals measured. He also monitored his blood sugar by himself at home. Jack had weekly health coaching where he discussed his progress and worked through any challenges he faced. He was eager to improve his health by asking for more challenges and often commented on how surprisingly “easy” it was to be and stay healthy.
Perhaps the most remarkable change in Jack has been that he exceeded what he ever thought was possible.
Jack is no longer diabetic and has been able to discontinue all medications he was taking. He lost over 100 pounds on this program and is continually losing weight by utilizing the skills he learned throughout. Jack would say some of his biggest rewards from the program are his increased motivation, energy, and confidence. He has reported that since beginning the program, he no longer feels aches and pains in his joints, a symptom he thought was due to aging. The fat around Jacks organs had been reduced to less than half, which is a remarkable result. Additionally, all of Jack’s labs improved, including his cholesterol and inflammatory markers. Jack is addicted to this new way of life and feels he has not had to sacrifice in order to achieve these results. A true inspiration, Jack is constantly looking ahead and getting creative with his health and wellness journey.
As a busy working mom in her forties, Melissa resigned herself to feeling less than optimal.
Although never one to struggle with obesity per say, Melissa just assumed her body was always going to stay the way it was, even after forty. She became accustomed to feeling aches and pains in her body over time, believing this was a normal part of the aging process. In addition to these common struggles, Melissa also suffers from ulcerative colitis, as well as many hormonal issues she knew needed to be addressed. Her goal was to start living a wholesome life and to take better control of her health requirements.
It was evident that the root cause of Melissa’s ailment and the path to optimal health was improving her gut health.
She began the program in the middle of a colitis flare up when she was in a bad state. Melissa did extensive medical testing through lab work and diagnostics to get a clearer picture of her overall health status. Immediately, her diet and supplementation protocol were put under a microscope and a new treatment plan was put in place. She started a cleanse, which resembled an elimination diet for a month, and eventually eased into a whole foods diet with extremely limited simple carbohydrates and plenty of vegetables, fruits, and proteins. Melissa’s hormones were evaluated, and through bioidentical hormone replacement, her imbalances were addressed.
Melissa never thought she could go from a size 8 at 40 years old to a size 4, but that is exactly what she did!
She looks leaner and her self-image has greatly improved. Melissa feels her gut health has greatly improved and is the best it has ever been. Addressing Melissa’s hormones improved her sleep, and along with diet, helped her energy and frequent migraines. Perhaps the greatest improvement Melissa has experienced was one she was not expecting at all. She had always accepted that her joint pain came with age, but now Melissa has eliminated all daily joint pain, only ever experiencing it when she has missed her supplements or adds sugar back into her diet. It is safe to say Melissa is currently in tune with her body by knowing what makes it feels great and what makes it feel not so great.
The biggest obstacles Keith faced at the start of the program was maintaining consistency in his health program.
Keith is a football coach and involved in athletes all day so he knows and understands first hand that exercise and diet are the cornerstones of health. However, he was finding difficulty in sticking to both his workout routine and a healthy diet. Keith needed to be accountable and really experience the long-term benefits of a consistent healthy lifestyle.
Keith started on a cleanse and month-long elimination diet. He then progressed to a diet with a lot of protein, vegetables and some fruit.
Keith maintained a daily workout program, gradually building his strength and cardiovascular health. He incorporated HIIT workouts, circuits, and some steady state cardio. Keith underwent extensive lab work and diagnostics to get baseline health parameters that were remeasured in the middle and end of the program. He participated in weekly health coaching sessions where he was able to report his progress and be challenged more throughout. It was important for Keith to focus on maintaining these results and this lifestyle long-term, so he worked on finding alternatives to some of his food cravings. Due to his long-term goal of sustained health, Keith’s weight loss was more intentional and steadier, ensuring more permanent fat loss.
If you ask Keith, he is not yet finished, as he is still working on getting to his peak physical fitness level.
He has lost weight, but more importantly to Keith, he feels he has much better muscle tone. The fat around his organs also decreased significantly. Keith reports an increase in energy, improved sleep and more mobility. He originally attributed his joint pain to age, but now Keith’s pain has been eliminated since cutting out sugar from his diet. Additionally, Keith’s lab work showed positive improvement in his cholesterol levels and inflammatory markers.
